Why People Are Seeking Mental Health Care Without Using Insurance
Insurance requires that the person’s mental health diagnosis be revealed to the insurance company.
The insurance company has a right ask for and receive confidential mental health treatment notes.
Insurance companies have a limited number and quality of mental health providers so it is difficult to find a helpful in-network provider.
Insurance companies may not cover mental health care, may deny coverage if the insurance deems mental health care not medically necessary, or may limit treatment duration.
People do not want to run the risk of a return to unhealthier mental health functioning should the insurance suddenly decide that the person’s mental health care is no longer covered.

Fees For Services
Fees for psychological care include $225 for the first appointment (CPT 90791), and $220 for subsequent appointments (individual - CPT 90837 and couples/family - CPT 90847). Like many psychologist, Dr. Sack does not participate as an in-network (IN) provider with insurance companies.
In compliance with the federal No Surprises Act law, a Good Faith Estimate of fees for services will be provided. Dr. Sack accepts credit/debit cards, Health Service Accounts (HSA) cards, Flex Spending Cards and checks for payment at the time of service.
Out Of Network Insurance Coverage
Many insurance companies will pay you back for psychological services you pay for, even if the care provider is out-of-network (OON). If, despite the insurance use drawbacks listed above, you will be choosing to use your insurance benefits, you may want to call your insurance company to identify what benefit coverage you have. This includes information about whether they will reimburse you for OON providers and whether they pay for telehealth with OON providers. Here is a page you can printout to guide you in asking your insurance company question about your insurance coverage.
FILING OF CLAIMS IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE OON INSURANCE BENEFITS
Dr. Sack’s office will provide you with a monthly superbill containing the information needed for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement of insurance payments to you. We cannot guarantee if or what your insurance will pay. Any follow-up calls to insurance companies will be the responsibility of the patient.
CANCELLATIONS AND NO SHOWS
